Cute Baby Cards

I needed to make a few baby cards recently and here's what I came up with using my new Nursery Necessities stamp set. Stamps: Nursery Necessities, Aida Cloth
Papers: Soft Sky (regular and textured), Wild Wasabi, White, So Saffron
Inks: Garden Green, So Saffron
Accessories: Soft Sky double stitched ribbon, scallop punch, Very Vanilla Ribbon
Notes: Stamped off 0nce with the garden green ink for the words and elephant to get a lighter shade of green (close to Wild Wasabi).

Another Resist Card!

I'm participating in a card swap in a few weeks so I figured I'd try embossing resist one more time before I move onto another set of techniques for next month. So here's one more, a variation on embossing resist called "Emerging Color." It's the same as embossing resist, except I stamped some swirls on the paper before I applied the embossed image.

This card also satisfies one of Beate's Fresh & Fun weekend challenges, which I haven't done in a while. It feels good to jump into the game again!

Stamps: Fabulous Flowers, Priceless
Inks: Bravo Burgundy, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral
Papers: Ruby Red, River Rock, Whisper White, Bravo Burgundy, Groovy Guava, Ginger Blossom DS
Accessories: Brass Brads, 1/4" circle, River Rock Double Stitched Ribbon, Versamark, Clear Embossing Powder, brayer

Note: On the right side I punched 1/4 inch holes and inserted a brad in the middle, this made the accent a little more visible. Also, after embossing the flower, I brayed over it with Ruby Red ink and stamped more swirls in burgundy.

January Technique Class: Resisting

Every month I'm doing a Technique class now, which so far has been a lot of fun! This month I focused on a few different kinds of "resisting." The first card uses the crayon resist technique. This was my favorite card of the night, I just love this technique and these colors. The basic approach for crayon resist is to use a white crayon on white glossy paper to resist ink that is sponged on top of it. The design of this card is CASEd from ClaireD on Splitcoast Stampers (http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/706339?cat=834).

Here'as the recipe:

Stamps: Doodle This, Sincere Salutations
Papers: Old Olive, Whisper White, Glossy White, Black,
Inks: black, Old Olive, Perfect Plum
Accessories: Black grosgrain ribbon

This card was made using Versamark Resist, sometimes called "ghosting." The basic principle here is apply Versamark to glossy cardstock, and then after it dries, apply ink and the versamark will resist the ink. I applied the celery ink with a brayer on the background of this one. The design of this card was CASEd from DCPapercraft on Splitcoast Stampers (http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/700957?cat=7490).

Stamps: Polka Dots & Petals, Polka Dots & Paisley
Papers: Blue Bayou, Glossy White, Soft Sky, Certainly Celery
Inks: Certainly Celery, Versamark, Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Blue Bayou Double Stitched Ribbon, Scallop Punch

This last card uses the technique of Embossing Resist. Instead of crayon and versamark, you actually emboss an image to resist with. For this one I didn't use glossy paper, but I think you could if you wanted to. I embossed the solid white butterflies and then applied the coral ink and stamped some more images on top.

Stamps: Sweet Shapes
Papers: Cameo Coral, Rose Red, Whisper White, Taken with Teal
Inks: Rose Red, Taken with Teal, Versamark, Cameo Coral
Accessories: Purely Pomegranate double stitched ribbon, Ticket corner punch, Small Tag Punch, Tab Punch, Staple
